Laramar Group Hires David Ferrero, CFA, as Executive Vice President, Capital Markets

The Laramar Group, a leading national real estate investment and property management company, has appointed David Ferrero, CFA, as Executive Vice President – Capital Markets. Ferrero will work with senior management to direct the company’s strategic fund raising, joint venture activity and investor relations, as well as expand its investment portfolio in the Northeastern market and across the U.S. Ferrero will be focused on working with the Firm’s current investor relationships and engaging new investors for Laramar’s investment platforms. He will be based in Boston, MA.

Ferrero has nearly 30 years of real estate investment management expertise and has proven experience driving platform performance, adding considerable value and implementing growth-focused investment and operating strategies within all types of organizations, from mature investment funds to entrepreneurial ventures.

Ferrero previously was a Partner with Alcion Ventures in Boston, MA where he was a catalyst driving the firm’s value creation strategies and co-leading investment and operational expansion and capital raise initiatives. Ferrero was integral in generating over $1 billion in capital raises for two funds.

He joins Laramar Group from Mosaic Building Group, where he was Head of Real Estate and Business Development. In that role, he was part of an executive leadership team overseeing business development initiatives, and investment strategies for an early-stage construction technology platform. He successfully aided a $10 million Series A capital raise and helped facilitate the growth of the platform and increase the team from 4 to 50 employees in 18 months.

Previously Ferrero was a Director of Real Estate Investment at Harvard Management Company, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Harvard University, having been recruited to globalize and manage the endowment’s real estate portfolio. In that role, he more than doubled the portfolio value, to $2.7 billion, and structured real estate investments valued in excess of $3 billion.

“This is an interesting time for the industry and an exciting opportunity to join the Laramar team as they focus on expanding their multifamily investment portfolio and extending their brand,” Ferrero said. “We also plan to leverage my proptech expertise in helping to grow the firm’s Nine Four Ventures technology fund.

Ferrero earned a B.S. in Economics from the Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania and the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation from the CFA Institute. He has served on advisory boards for numerous real estate funds and non-profit organizations. He has been a regular speaker in a graduate-level entrepreneurship course at MIT’s Center for Real Estate.
