Aug. 26 marks the day that the 19th Amendment's ratification was certified, making it unlawful for a citizen to be denied their right to vote on account of sex.
This was a massive mile-marker in the fight for equality & we celebrate the women before us who fought for this right. Beyond that though, today is also a day of action & reflection. Inequality can take many shapes, but in one form or another, it is a daily reality for those who identify as women. So in honor of Aug. 26th, act to lessen the disparities that still exist. Some ways you can help: EDUCATE yourself on the 19th Amendment and how it related to women of color voting. DONATE to organizations that work to diminish gender inequality in all of its forms.
